Desert heat year-round; mid-June to mid-September is severe enough that the state bans midday outdoor work.

Saudi Arabia's National Center for Meteorology describes a semi-arid to desert climate with very low rainfall; its seasonal maxima bands are 35-45C in summer (Jun-Aug), 30-40C in spring, 25-35C in autumn and 20-30C in winter, with a distinct difference between coastal and inland areas.

The official heat marker: the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development bans all private-sector work in direct sun from 12:00 to 15:00, 15 June through 15 September 2026 — treat those hours as the government's own definition of dangerous heat and plan outdoor time for early morning or after sunset in summer.

Winter (Dec-Feb) is the comfortable window at 20-30C maxima per NCM's seasonal bands.
