Ride-hailing in Riyadh

Ride-hailing is a licensed activity the Transport General Authority actively polices, so stay on a mainstream app and take complaints to the TGA rather than the driver.

Passenger transport apps are licensed by the Transport General Authority. On 31 March 2024 the TGA suspended two ride-hailing applications and four food delivery applications for operating without the required licences, so an unfamiliar app is a live risk rather than a theoretical one.

Uber operates in the Kingdom. The TGA's acting president spoke at Uber Saudi Arabia's launch of its annual sector report in February 2025. The figures he gave are sector-wide rather than Uber's own: 80.5 million ride-hailing app trips in 2024, and 332,000 drivers registered on digital platforms.

Problems with a driver, a vehicle or a charge go to the TGA on 19929, or to its customer care account @tga_care.

No official page publishes a pickup point or a minimum fare for RUH. Follow the ground transport signage inside the terminal, and check the price the app quotes before you confirm the trip.
