Weather in Dubai

The number that matters is the overnight low: about 29.7C in summer, so the night never cools down.

Dubai's own government media office puts the summer average high at around 41.8C, with overnight lows around 29.7C. The low is the figure to plan against. A layover built around an early run or a walk before report does not get a cool window in July the way it would almost anywhere else on the network.

Winter is the opposite and is the reason Dubai layovers are prized between December and February: an average high of 23C and overnight lows of 14C.

Humidity runs at an annual average of 59% and peaks in January and February at 65%. The high humidity does not arrive with the heat, which surprises people who expect the winter to be dry.

Rainfall is small but not zero, and is concentrated in winter: accumulated rain reaches 87.3 mm per year, with February the wettest month at 31 mm, January at 15 mm and March at 18.9 mm. Dubai floods faster than the totals suggest because the drainage is built for a drier city.
