All of Frankfurt

Alt-Sachsenhausen, south of the Main, is the apple-wine tavern quarter. The city's tourism board calls it the hotspot of Frankfurt's Apfelwein culture: cider around 5.5% ABV poured from a Bembel jug into ribbed Gerippte glasses, served hot with spices in winter. Local staples at tavern level are Gruene Sosse (seven-herb green sauce) and Handkaes mit Musik.

Kleinmarkthalle (Hasengasse 5-7, just off the Zeil) is the central food market hall, 60-plus traders. Hours from the operator: Mon-Fri 08:00-18:00, Sat 08:00-16:00, closed Sundays and public holidays. Plan market visits around that Sunday closure.

Fressgass (Grosse Bockenheimer Strasse) is the delicatessen strip between the Zeil and the Opera, lined with delis, cafes and restaurants; Kaiserstrasse in the station district is the tourism board's pick for national and international cuisine, convenient to Hauptbahnhof-area crew hotels.
