Asia-Pacific Pilot Pay in 2026: Real Ranges by Rank and Fleet
Rank-by-rank pilot pay across Cathay, Qantas, Singapore Airlines, JAL, ANA and IndiGo in 2026, with each range flagged for provenance, plus where the sources contradict each other.

Ranges are annual and in US dollars, and each one carries a letter for how far it can be traced: from three or more published documents down to a range built from the methodology. Every region states its own tax treatment, because a tax-free Gulf package and a gross European salary are not the same kind of number.
20 pay ranges across 3 role families, annual and in US dollars.
Each range is a floor and a ceiling, except 3 where the source publishes a single step and one figure is shown. Bars are scaled within a role family, so two rows in one family compare directly and two rows in different families do not.
Where a single role differs, that row’s own note says so.
Pick any two of the roles below and read them against one scale.
Both bars are drawn to one scale, but they are not the same kind of number. Read the basis under each before you read the gap between them. How these are built

Contract currency AUD; converted at 1 USD = 1.4158 AUD, ECB reference rate of 10 August 2026. Two-carrier row with a primary source for each and genuinely overlapping ranges: Qantas Airways Ltd Pilots (Short Haul) EA 2024 (EBA9), AE528955 clause 27.2.3, gives Captain AUD 262,624.99 (Year 1) to AUD 298,292.33 (Year 6); Jetstar Airways Pilots' EA 2026, AE533389 Table 1, gives Narrow Body Captain AUD 264,335 (Level 1) to AUD 280,433 (Levels 3-4), which sits wholly inside the Qantas span. Range shown is the union of the two. These are annual base salaries against a minimum guarantee of 60 flying hours per 28-day bid period (Qantas); flying above that guarantee is paid on top at the applicable hourly rate and is EXCLUDED here. Also EXCLUDED and paid on top: employer superannuation at 12% (superannuation guarantee, ATO), Jetstar's Extra Flying Allowance (EFA), the Qantas Company Incentive Payment (bonus rate 6% multiplied by the executive MIP scorecard outcome, clause 27.7.3), and daily travelling allowance. Unlike Gulf packages there is NO housing, schooling or transport allowance in or around these figures, and nothing is tax-free. STALENESS FLAG: the Qantas table steps up on 1 September 2026 to AUD 270,503.73-307,241.10 (USD 191,061-217,009), roughly three weeks after this figure was compiled.

Contract currency AUD; converted at 1 USD = 1.4158 AUD, ECB reference rate of 10 August 2026. Single published figure, not a range: Virgin Australia Narrow Body Aircraft Pilots' EA 2024 (AE526842, decision [2024] FWCA 4071 of 21 November 2024, operative 23 December 2024, nominal expiry 30 June 2027), clause 24.1 Table 2, sets ONE Captain rate with no seniority increments: AUD 298,908.58 from the first full pay period after 1 July 2026. That is the final increment in the table, so min and max are the same number by design and no ceiling is being estimated. Table 2 is headed 'Annual Base Salary for B737 Pilots' and by clause 24.2 also covers any replacement aircraft of similar capacity. EXCLUDED and paid on top: employer superannuation at the superannuation guarantee rate (clause 28.1, drafted as 11.5% 'or the minimum provided by legislation', so 12% from 1 July 2025); credit hours above the Credit Hour Trigger, paid at the Productivity Rate, which clause 30.1 Table 5 sets at AUD 386.70 per hour for a Captain from the first full roster period after 1 July 2026; the Overnight and International Daily Travel Allowances (clauses 45 and 46); and payments for working on or infringing designated days off (clause 37). There is no retention payment in this agreement; the only lump sum is the one-off Sign On Bonus at clause 22 (Captain AUD 10,000), which was paid once at commencement in December 2024 and is not a recurring entitlement. No housing, schooling or transport allowance; nothing tax-free. SOURCING WARNING for anyone rechecking this: a copy of the agreement hosted outside the FWC register (on the AFAP content CDN) is an earlier bargaining draft with a materially different schedule, Captain AUD 285,574.49 and First Officer AUD 185,612.04 from 1 July 2026, a Retention Payment Scheme at its clause 30, and a Captain productivity rate of AUD 367.78. None of that survives into the approved instrument. AE526842 governs.

Contract currency AUD; converted at 1 USD = 1.4158 AUD, ECB reference rate of 10 August 2026. Three-carrier row with a separate primary source for each, and the ranges genuinely overlap: the Jetstar span contains the other two entirely. Jetstar Airways EA 2026 (AE533389) Tables 2 and 4: Narrow Body FO AUD 147,234 (L1) to 171,818 (L4), Wide Body FO AUD 180,805 (L2) to 195,873 (L4), so AUD 147,234-195,873 overall (USD 103,994-138,348). Qantas EBA9 (AE528955) clause 27.3.3: B737/A320 FO AUD 173,332.49 (Yr 1) to 192,071.16 (Yr 5), USD 122,427-135,663. Virgin Australia (AE526842) Table 2: single B737 FO rate AUD 194,290.57, USD 137,230. Range shown is the union, which equals the Jetstar span. EXCLUDED and paid on top for all three: 12% employer superannuation, flying above the minimum guarantee, EFA, incentive payments, and travel allowances. No housing, schooling or transport allowance; nothing tax-free. Qantas FO steps up 1 September 2026 to AUD 178,532.46-197,833.29 (USD 126,100-139,733), which will lift the top of this band slightly.

Jetstar Airways Pilots' EA 2026 (AE533389, operative 22 July 2026, nominal expiry 30 June 2030) Table 5 publishes exactly ONE Second Officer rate, Level 1 only: AUD 109,749 from 1 July 2026. There is no Level 2 or above in the table, so min equals max and there is no ceiling to extrapolate. Scoped to Jetstar Airways only. The agreement says 'Wide Body Second Officer' and does not name a type; the B787-8 is Jetstar's only wide-body aircraft. Neither of the other two agreements sourced for this cell carries a Second Officer rank: the Qantas SHORT HAUL agreement (AE528955) and the Virgin Australia narrow-body agreement (AE526842) both stop at First Officer. Qantas long-haul mainline does employ Second Officers, but that agreement was not obtained and this row makes no claim about it. EXCLUDED and paid on top: employer superannuation at the superannuation guarantee rate (clause 43, 12% from 1 July 2025), the Extra Flying Allowance for credit hours (clause 41.4, paid at Annual Salary divided by 787 per credit hour), and daily travelling allowances. Contract currency AUD; converted at 1 USD = 1.4158 AUD, ECB reference rate of 10 August 2026. The underlying published figure is NOT annual: Qantas EBA9 (AE528955) clause 27.4.1 sets FOT pay at AUD 6,404.90 per twenty-eight day bid period from the first full pay period on or after 1 July 2026. Annualised at 13 bid periods that is AUD 83,263.70, or USD 58,810. Thirteen periods is the convention the AFAP itself uses for this grade: in its Form F18 objection to the agreement the AFAP annualises the then-current AUD 6,218.35 per period as 'effectively $80,838.55', which is exactly 13 times the period rate. A single figure is therefore reported rather than a range; there is no seniority scale at this grade. This is the pre-line-check pay grade for direct-hire First Officers who are already licensed professional pilots undergoing type training, not a cadet scheme. The AFAP's F18 states that the Air Pilots Award 2020 has no FOT classification at all and treats these pilots as Narrow Body Aircraft First Officers, for whom the award minimum is AUD 127,214.88, so the FOT rate sits AUD 46,376.33 below the award minimum for the same classification for the months before clearing to the line. Trade press reporting the AFAP adds that the grade also removes rostering rules, indemnity protections and loss-of-licence reimbursement relative to the First Officer scale; that particular claim is trade-press reporting of the union, not a primary document. On clearing to the line the pilot moves onto the First Officer scale at clause 27.3 (clauses 27.4.2 to 27.4.4). EXCLUDED: employer superannuation at the superannuation guarantee rate (12% from 1 July 2025) and travel allowances; FOTs are expressly ineligible for the Company Incentive Payment (clause 27.7.11). No housing, schooling or transport allowance; nothing tax-free. Published forward steps: AUD 6,597.04 per period (1 Jul 2027), 6,794.95 (1 Jul 2028).

Virgin Australia Narrow Body Aircraft Pilots' EA 2024 (AE526842, operative 23 December 2024, nominal expiry 30 June 2027) clause 24.1 Table 2 publishes named dollar rates for the check-and-training ranks, not just a loading: Training Captain AUD 328,799.43, Senior Training Captain AUD 337,766.69 (USD 238,569), Check Captain AUD 346,733.95, all from the first full pay period after 1 July 2026, the final increment in the table. Range is the floor and ceiling of those three published rates. Clause 31.1 explains the structure: the check-and-training loadings are INCLUDED in the annual base salary, at 10% of a Captain's base for Training Pilots, 13% for Senior Training Captains and 16% for Check Captains, which reconciles exactly against the Captain rate of AUD 298,908.58. Deliberately scoped to CAPTAIN-rank trainers so the band is coherent; the same table also publishes Training First Officer at AUD 224,181.43 (USD 158,343), which is a band B role and is not folded into this range. NOT merged with Qantas: Qantas short-haul sets Type Rated Examiner and Type Rated Instructor pay by formula rather than a dollar table (EBA9 clauses 22.1.8(c) and 22.4.6(c): 782 hours annually at the applicable hourly rate, plus 66 hours as a supervisory or TRI allowance, plus a 229-hour supplementary allowance, plus a bid-period top-up above 71:48), so no comparable published dollar figure exists and the two are not combined. EXCLUDED and paid on top: employer superannuation at the superannuation guarantee rate (clause 28.1, 12% from 1 July 2025); credit hours above the Credit Hour Trigger at the Productivity Rate, which clause 30.1 Table 5 sets from the first full roster period after 1 July 2026 at AUD 448.57 per hour for a Check Captain, AUD 436.97 for a Senior Training Captain and AUD 425.37 for a Training Captain; and the Overnight and International Daily Travel Allowances. This agreement contains no retention payment; the only lump sum is the one-off Sign On Bonus at clause 22, paid once at commencement in December 2024 (Check Captain AUD 11,600, Senior Training Captain AUD 11,300, Training Captain AUD 11,000). The variation lifted pay for QCCA employees and Qantas employees engaged on or after 17 December 2007 by roughly 30 percent from 1 November 2024 and gave nothing to the pre-2007 group; it also opened A350 ultra-long-range 'Project Sunrise' flying to these crew. Clause 3.3.3 still makes the annual salary inclusive of all payments and allowances except incidentals, ground and training duty allowance, higher duties and languages, and it absorbs shift, public holiday and annual leave loadings. Additional Hourly Pay above 225 hours per 56-day bid period (clause 3.5) is extra and is NOT in these figures; the varied clause 4.3 single-time hourly rates run AUD 41.5372 (trainee) to AUD 45.1779 (flight attendant) from 16 June 2025, but the agreement fixes no annual AHP total and none is estimated here. SEPARATE CLOSED TIER, quoted not merged: Qantas employees engaged before 17 December 2007 receive a Flight Attendant Total Salary of AUD 96,545.71 (base AUD 51,646.65 plus supplementary payment AUD 44,899.06), about USD 68,161, at 16 June 2025 under clause 4.1 of Part B. Closed to new entrants. STALENESS: nominal expiry 29 March 2026 has passed; varied clause 3.2 bars any replacement increase before 16 June 2026, which is also now past, but no replacement agreement is registered with the Fair Work Commission as at 10 August 2026, so 16 June 2025 is the last published step. LONG HAUL ONLY: EBA11 consolidates and supersedes the International Division agreements (EBA8, EBA9, EBA10) and pools A330, A380 and B787 flying. It says nothing about Qantas short haul or domestic cabin crew, who sit under a separate agreement lineage.

NEITHER SCALE PUBLISHES A PURSER OR CABIN MANAGER SALARY GRADE: seniority is paid as an allowance, not a classification: Rex adds 8% for Line Training and 20% for Check and Training flight attendants (cl 20.2); VARA pays a Senior Allowance of AUD 39.24 per duty on A320 and AUD 22.89 per duty on F100 to the designated person in charge, plus Team Leader AUD 3,000 a year and Supervisory Line Checker up to AUD 10,000 a year (Tables 4 and 6). Do not read the top of this range as a purser rate. ANOMALY WORTH FLAGGING, NOT SMOOTHED: VARA's published Table 3 shows CC8 falling from AUD 67,829 (20 May 2025) to AUD 67,090 (20 May 2026). That is what the registered document says; I have not corrected it. Rex rates escalate 2% a year with a CPI catch-up to a 5% ceiling, and cl 20.5 provides that any CPI-driven uplift is published by internal memo and supersedes the printed table, so the Rex figures are a published floor that an unpublished memo may have raised.

That is SGD 4,000-5,000 a month, so the range here is the airline's own stated monthly figure annualised at twelve months (SGD 48,000-60,000). The page does not mention a thirteenth month, annual wage supplement or profit-sharing bonus, so none is included. Singapore Airlines has paid large profit-share bonuses in recent years and total cash can materially exceed this, but I did not source a figure and have not estimated one. IMPORTANT SCOPE LIMIT: this covers newly graduated flying crew only. Singapore Airlines publishes no scale for Leading Steward/Stewardess, Chief Steward/Stewardess or Inflight Supervisor, and the widely circulated senior figures come from unsourced aggregator sites, so no senior or purser figure is offered here. The training-period salary is described only as 'a basic salary' with no amount given.

Load Control Officers who hold and use the qualification receive a separate allowance of A$1,524.42/year from 1 July 2026 (Schedule 4). Excludes shift penalties, overtime and superannuation, which are on top. Local Australian terms: taxed, no housing/schooling/transport allowances. Contract currency AUD. Schedule 3.1 Table 1, Level 9 increments 1 to 4, first full pay period on or after 1 July 2026: A$92,687 to A$97,510. Title mapping is inferred, and this is why confidence is moderate: the agreement does not use the words 'duty manager'. Level 9 in the Airports stream is defined in Schedule 1 as managing a work function across single or multiple terminals including after-hours responsibility for the whole airport, supervising coordination of Qantas and client airline aircraft movements and loading for on-time departure, and portfolio responsibilities. That is duty-manager work, but a Qantas role carrying that job title could sit elsewhere. Above Level 9 the same agreement publishes Senior Professional ranges (shiftworkers, without 20th day grossed up: SP1 A$97,976 min at 1 July 2026; dayworkers SP2 max A$135,248), which are managerial/specialist grades not tied specifically to airport duty management. Excludes shift penalties, overtime and superannuation, which are on top. Local Australian terms: taxed, no housing/schooling/transport allowances. Converted at USD/AUD 1.4158, ECB reference rate 10 August 2026.

Contract currency AUD. Same scale and same figures as the Qantas airport duty manager row because both roles sit at Level 9 of one classification structure: Schedule 3.1 Table 1, Level 9 increments 1 to 4, A$92,687 to A$97,510 for the first full pay period on or after 1 July 2026. Schedule 1 lists the Level 9 Sales and Marketing typical duties as monitoring and allocating passenger inventory using the yield management system to maximise route revenue, forecasting demand from historical booking data, revising control parameters and analysing flight data. Confidence is moderate because the mapping comes from duty descriptors rather than a job title, and because senior revenue-management and network-planning roles at Qantas are likely to sit above this agreement in Senior Professional or award-free management bands that publish no rates. NETWORK PLANNING is not covered: I found no published scale for it and it is not described at Level 9. Excludes shift penalties, overtime and superannuation, which are on top. Local Australian terms: taxed, no housing/schooling/transport allowances, so not comparable to a tax-free Gulf package. Converted at USD/AUD 1.4158, ECB reference rate 10 August 2026.

Gross, taxable Hong Kong income (Hong Kong salaries tax, headline rates well below Australian or European rates but not zero).
Contract currency HKD. AVSECO's own published vacancy for Aviation Security Supervisor at Chek Lap Kok, published 10 July 2026, quotes monthly 'salary and allowance' of HK$19,700 (9-hour shift) or HK$23,890 (12-hour shift) on entry, rising to a maximum after two years of HK$20,720 (9-hour) or HK$24,880 (12-hour). Range shown is the 9-hour entry figure annualised over 12 months (HK$236,400) to the 12-hour two-year maximum (HK$298,560). The 12-hour figure is a longer-shift rate, not a promotion, so the spread is mostly hours, not seniority. EXCLUDED because the posting does not quantify it: the year-end payment listed among benefits (a 13th-month payment would add roughly 8%), plus 12-day annual leave, birthday holiday and medical welfare. No housing, schooling or transport allowance and no tax-free status, so this is not comparable to a Gulf security package. AVSECO is the aviation security operator at HKIA, not an airline; airline-employed security staff in Hong Kong are not covered. Converted at USD/HKD 7.8453, ECB reference rate 10 August 2026.
Gross, taxable Singapore income.
Contract currency SGD. Certis Cisco Security Pte Ltd permanent posting on MyCareersFuture, the Singapore government job portal where the employer must publish a salary range, dated 15 July 2026: S$3,090 to S$3,190 per month, 12-hour shifts (permanent day or permanent night available), minimum N-level education, 'Singaporeans Only'. Annualised over 12 months: S$37,080 to S$38,280. Certis's own careers page independently states 'up to $3,190' per month inclusive of applicable allowances, which corroborates the ceiling. EXCLUDED because not quantified in either source: Annual Wage Supplement / 13th month, performance bonus, annual increments, and any sign-on bonus. Gross is before the 20% employee CPF deduction; employer CPF of up to 17% is paid on top for citizens and PRs. Because the role is restricted to Singapore citizens there is no expat variant and no housing, schooling or transport allowance, so it is not comparable to a tax-free Gulf package. Certis is Changi's screening contractor, not an airline. Converted at USD/SGD 1.2795, ECB reference rate 10 August 2026.
Every range carries one of four labels, and the label is decided by the evidence on the row rather than by our judgement of it.
An indicative range is not weaker reporting; it is a different kind of evidence, and the label tells you which one you are reading.
We exclude outliers and senior-specific equity arrangements. Where sources disagree materially we say so in the row’s note rather than averaging them into a false consensus. There is no median, percentile or sample size anywhere in this data, so none is shown.
The label on a row names the operator or the agreement the source actually describes, not a region. That is the rule the whole dataset runs on: a single airline’s pay scale is evidence about that airline, and publishing it as a continental benchmark would be a claim the document cannot carry. Outside the Gulf the labels are long because the label is the claim.
Role families are navigation, not an operator’s job architecture, and the fit is imperfect. Several Asia-Pacific ranges filed under MRO & engineering are airport, revenue and aviation-security roles. Read the row label, not the family, for what a figure covers.

The bands are the summary. These pieces are where the numbers come from and what they mean for a career decision.
Rank-by-rank pilot pay across Cathay, Qantas, Singapore Airlines, JAL, ANA and IndiGo in 2026, with each range flagged for provenance, plus where the sources contradict each other.
